Wily Mo wasn't Drafted....Big Surprise

3:35 And the draft is off to a shaky start since Craig screwed us all and no one knows how to draft. Sweet.

3:36 Danny Mac just landed Big Papi in the first round... BALLGAME

3:38 Greech snagged Santana in round 1 via auto draft. Not too thrilled about it. Sean's whining non-stop but he did manage to snag Soriano so his bitching will stop for like 10 minutes or so.

3:39 Greech is on the clock sitting with his Fantasy mag. Let's see how he goes. My gut says he steals Wily Mo Pena from me and I have to throw him out a window.

3:40 Sean still can't login and is definitely three seconds from tears. Wait he's in but still bitching. Huge shock.

3:41 Conboy sucks...that is all.

3:42 Sean still doesn't know if he's in or not after 10 minutes of us telling him he is in. Lay off the Jager bombs for a while bro. Seriously.

3:50 Stahl is on auto draft. I'm seriously disappointed that the man thats responsible for about 95% of our blackouts isn't around.

3:51 Sean asks "who the hell is Bill Hall?" I dunno but I guarantee I take him late round. Apparently he hit 35 homeruns last year. I want him.

3:53 "I could never draft Jason Bay based on his picture alone." I agree Greech. Bay is undraftable.

3:55 "who the hell picked Brian Roberts?"
"that was Sean"\
"wow that was about 5 rounds too early"

3:56 Conboy drafts a closer in the 5th round cementing last place for the year. Good job pal.

3:57 The keg is tapped. And now we're making fun of Danny Mac for drafting Prince Fielder last year. The projections from the boys are 16 straight K's, 18 hot dogs, and 0 hr in April.

3:58 Just debated the names Ken Griffey III or Ken Griffey Junior Junior. JJ won in a landslide.

4:00 Bill Hall joins Danny Mac's squad. It's on.

4:01 Sean finds Craig's hand-written list of prospects. Every possible player in the league. We were told and i quote "I'm not even prepared for this league at all" from Craig.

4:04 I should note that Sean is about 30 ft from us in another room drafting so every comment he yells down the hall is like 10 times funnier. Such as knocking Craig's John Smoltz pickup. Greech is sweating his balls off. This is a little too intense for him.

4:06 Greech steals Hanley Ramirez prompting a tough reaction from me and Sean. Never liked that Griecci kid especially when he led the 11-12 year old Blue Jays to the worst 2 seasons ever. Thanks greech.

4:12 I just pulled the trigger on J.D. Drew....Son of a bitch. Definitely going to regret that one pretty soon. Until he gets hurt and I pick up Wily Mo off the Waiver Wire and he hits 40/100/.325

4:21 Sean: "Is Wil Mo still on the board?"
Me: "Nah someone snagged him second round"

4:26 TPS Gangstas: take my guy felisa, and i will histerectimy.....nice threat Greech

4:30 No-Talent Ass Clowns: danny ill trade you Carl C if u pick up wily mo
Miltons Swingline: on it
....you all saw it here first folks.

4:30 We have a $20 bet that Piazza hits 30 homeruns between Sean and Greech. Greech snagged him, Sean mocked, Greech challenged. I like it.

4:38 Just got screwed into Nick Swisher. Thanks for the 90 second time frame Conboy.

4:41 I have about 6 picks before my next one. And I'm saying right now. For Sean, for Greech, and for the fact that I refuse to give up on this guy no matter how bad he's screwed me in the past, I WILL BE SELECTING PRINCE FIELDER.

4:46 Hemi steals Prince Fielder and absolutely trashes my entire season. I don't even wanna do fantasy anymore thanks Hemi. Asshole.

4:56 My biggest satisfaction of the day. I just took Josh Beckett from Sean. Deal with it.

4:57 Well here's a look at my team so far....Actually I don't want to talk about my team. The fact that Fielder was stolen from me completely ruined the next 6 months of my life. There is no doubt in my mind he goes on to have a 45/120/.320 season just to stick it to me. Thanks Hemi.

5:07 "worst pick of the draft was Joel Zumaya."
"who picked him?"
"I did"
Good job Sean Zumaya in the 6th is solid.

Well Sean, I disagree I think Danny's pick of JD Drew in the 5th was pretty awful. All in all, the draft was successful for almost everyone. And I am definitely not part of that everyone. Thankfully there's plenty of keg to kill so I can drink away my depression.

Basically I am banking on dominating the free agent pool and stealing all the surprises off of the waiver wire. Doesn't matter what happens the only thing we all care about that Conboy is an awful GM and Sean is going to complain every day until the season ends.

The draft is over and now it's time to play kill the keg with the boys and watch the Final Four.

welcome to the show

Guess I’m hitting in the two spot…

It looks like Danny did a pretty good job summing up what we hope to accomplish here on our fancy, wicked high tech website. Although, he did forget to thank a few people for making this possible...First and foremost, Former Vice President Al Gore for making the internet a reality and giving people like me and Danny a place to voice our opinions, can't thank you enough. Also like to thank Curt Schilling for his 38pitches blog, which is hysterical if only because you have to wonder where he finds the time to type 10,000 words a day, pitch for a professional baseball team, star in Ford and Dunkin Donuts commercials, and save people like Danny from skin cancer, the guy is a real life renaissance man. And I guess we should thank Keystone light for being the creative fuel that will probably trigger most of the thoughts found on this blog. Last, gotta thank The Godfather, Bill Simmons . . . .(that was me taking a few seconds to do the Wayne and Garth “we are not worthy” from “Waynes World”)

So I don’t really have much to say right now, as I’m in the midst of trying to get ready for our live fantasy draft which is taking place at 330, which War Daddy has been nice enough to host. I do havea few random thoughts i can offer up…

1. Opening day is three days away, and Daisuke’s (ill be referring to him as DiceK from now on only because is much easier to type) Major league regular season debut is less than a week away, I can honestly say that I haven’t been anticipating something this much since I was 13 and waiting for SI’s swimsuit issue to come.
2. I am eagerly waiting for Hazel Mae, Tina Cervasio, Hot Ball Girl, etc, to come back into my life after a six month absence. You girls don’t know how much you mean to college aged guys all over New England.
3. I can’t wait till we get to bust Danny’s balls for a whole season when he uses his third round pick to draft Jon Papelbon’s little brother, or some other obscure prospect he heard Gammons talk about.
4. If fantasy baseball were to ever count fist pumps for points do you realize how valuable Derek Jeter would be to a roto team??
5. Final four is on tonight, GTown is laying a point to OSU and Florida is favored 3.5 over UCLA. Now, if gambling were legal, id be all over Florida with the points (-115), but since its not, and since I had to have Lee place all my bets, and since I’m a terrible at picking games, ill just watch it on TV and kick myself when they smoke UCLA tonight.
6. In case you didn’t hear…the NIT Tourney is over. UMass, my alma mater as well as Danny’s, bowed out in the second round after a great season, which could possibly bring basketball excitement back to Western Mass. I suppose the one upside is that UMass did lose to the eventual champion. So, congratulations are order to……West Virgina.
7. Oh and May 22nd…mark it on your calendar; it will be a day that will shape the Celtics immediate and long term future, maybe more on that later.

Thats all for now, gotta spend the next few hours pouring over every fantasy magainze and website available. You can reach us both at thesportshub@gmail.com (we have our own email address….doesn’t get much more legit than that)

And We're Up and Running

Well I guess I have the honors of the debut post. I'll just start this off with a quick intro of what to look forward to.

Me and my boy Greech decided it was time for us to voice our opinions on the Hub sports scene among other things. Obviously we're right around Opening Day for the Red Sox, so that is going to be the focus for a while. The Patriots are in the offseason, which so far has mostly consisted of Tom Brady knocking up smoking hot girls, so we won't hear too much about them. The Bruins are in the middle of a 15+ year streak of terrible, so posts on the B's will be rare. The Celtics are working there way to the lottery, but I'm sure you'll hear plenty about them through Greech since he's one of 20 or so people that still follow them.

We're also involved in a Fantasy Baseball League, which will get plenty of attention because we have the single-worst GM of any league in the entire world, the one and only, Conboy. At least he does us all a favor by ending up in dead last after ruining the league before it even starts. He's good like that. The draft happens on Saturday so expect some updates all day.

And since we have a tendency to hit Beantown pretty hard on weekends, and either never remember anything, or end up with hilarious stories about friends ending up at gas stations or slow dancing with random girls during Elton John songs, there's going to be plenty of weekend recaps.

So that's what we're looking at. Keep coming back, and I'm sure you'll at least find some time to kill while sitting at work finding every possible way to slack off. We'll gladly give you all one more reason.
