Welcome Home Trot

Words can't even describe the atmosphere at Fenway for Trot Nixon's homecoming. The place went absolutely insane when Trot first stepped on the field in the bottom of the 1st. I recorded a video on the digital, but I have absolutely no idea how to get it on here right now. I'll work on that and get back to you all.

So let's take you through the game in pictures since that's more fun.

Take a look at the man himself reclaiming his turf in right field. Again, the place went nuts when he got out there. Everyone on their feet losing it for Trot. One of those moments no one in the stadium will ever forget. Oh yea, Schill struck out the side before Trot took the field, but I'm sure you'll all get to read plenty about his performance on the ol' Schilling personal promotional website 38pitches.com.

This had absolutely nothing to do with the game, but it was a pretty cool moment. Guy surprised his girl with a proposal. She promptly turned him down, then asked Greech for his phone number.

Ok, that's a lie she accepted. Pretty cool moment. That's a great story to tell the grandkids someday. Got engaged during Trot Nixon's Fenway homecoming. No doubt that guy scored some serious points with his girl.

Self-explanatory photo. Sean was challenged to eat half a Papa Gino's personal pizza in one bite. Solid move to spend $35 on a 6-inch wide pizza then eat half of it in one bite. Proud of ya buddy.

Doing some fast-forwarding, this is what needs to be referred to from this day forth as Doomsday. Jonny Paps coming in from the 'pen with a 3-run lead in the 9th. Doomsday isn't the most creative name, but it's the best I got for now. I'm open to suggestions as long as none of them are somehow cheap shots at my boy Wily Mo, who was completely screwed out of an RBI by Mike Lowell tonight.

Kinda hard to see this one so I'll explain. Jonathan Papelbon on the mound warming up with 36,000+ fans losing their minds with that Dropkick Murphy's song from The Departed blaring in the background. I don't think there's a more fitting song for that moment. You know cuz it's like the team Pap is facing is about to become the Departed? As in they're not gonna touch him and it's all over? Get it?

Alright so back to the man of the hour. I just watched the first 2 innings of the replay on NESN, and the moment(s) for Trot translated extremely well. No doubt everyone watching on TV had chills. I know for me personally it started to get a little dusty. Just a great night.

One quick story involving my favorite Nixon moment with the Sox. I'll take you back to the 2003 ALDS against Oakland. Game 3. Trot wasn't starting because of a hamstring injury. I remember watching the game in my dorm room. In maybe the 5th inning, they showed a shot of Trot sitting in the dugout holding a bat with a look that could cut through steel. I remember picking up the phone and calling up my father. Both of us had the exact same thought: Trot was coming off the bench and hitting a walk-off. Fast forward to extra innings. Trot's comes off the bench and took a chest-high 98 mph fastball from Rich Harden and sent it to the CF bleachers. Ballgame.

Thanks Trot, and thanks Boston for giving the man his due respect. And, J.D., I don't care that you hit an RBI double and scored a run. You'll never replace the real #7.

Sorry I didn't end up with more pics for your enjoyment. The two Trot videos that I can't seem to get on the site took up a lotta memory.

I also tried to get a pic of Wily Mo, but his gigantic frame wouldn't fit in my digital screen. Ah well, live and learn.

I also didn't get a shot of the 16 year old girl Craig was chasing after which is probably for the best. Probably don't want any evidence of a girl that my brother referred to as "jailbait".

Alright that's gonna do it for me. I'll try and figure out the video and get it up ASAP.
